Jean Hattam wrote: All the churches once a year had fetes with grand decorated stalls competition. We enjoyed every one – home made jams, pickles, cakes, sweets, clothing etc. Lucky dips for girls and boys, spinning wheels and so much more – each being a big event. During the war years, we had Sunday night concerts to raise money for war relief. There was community singing, items from locals, bands and the theatre was always packed. The 3rd Youth Club put on a great concert to a packed audience.
