When I was little, mum would have my sister in the pram, we would get on the bus to Yallourn, walk over to the wading pool if it was hot and then go to the bakery and mum would buy us lunch and we would sit at the park opposite the Yallourn Medical Centre under a tree. Mum would later finish her shopping and home again on the bus. To me this was heaven....Ray Lovison

Bill is 2nd from right with the trombone - he was a very talented musician. The fact that he played in the band helped him to get a job with the SEC when so many were unemployed. He said that all the young men used to hang around at the gates every day waiting for someone to come out and give them a job. He was the bread winner and desparate for work...Ann Dinsdale

Late one Saturday afternoon in about 1970, an intense storm passed over Yallourn. The ovals flooded and remained wet through the following day.

At about 5:00pm on the Saturday, the heavens suddenly opened, pouring torrential rain across Yallourn.. The ovals flooded rapidly, restricting access from the hospital back into Yallourn necessitating a diversion via Hernes Oak. The water remained over #1 oval through the Sunday, but cleared rapidly therafter
