These photo's were taken by H W Lynch on the 22 February 1925 of the now established garden at 12 Maiden Street. Mary Lynch, H W Lynch's wife is in the photo's.

This photo was taken in November 1925 when Sir John Monash escorted members of the Victorian Provincial Press Association Executive on a tour of the Yallourn works.

I'm not sure if this is the correct address (26 hillside) but it is definitely a drawing based on the photo of the house that is attached to this address. Can anyone confirm that this was the house at 26 Hillside.

This drawing was created as part of the 1925-26 annual report.

Photo taken by H W Lynch at 24 Hillside of Mary, his wife, & his mother. This is the Lynch's second Yallourn house, having previously lived at 12 Maiden Street.

1926 saw the Post Office and State Savings Bank opened for business, they occupied corresponding sites on opposite sides of the town square and were complementary in design. They were double-storied, the upper stories were residences for the bank manager and postmaster. Prior to the opening of the town post office postal facilities had operated at Eastern and Western Camps.

Never far from the action… Dr James Moore Andrew (dark suit and without hat) can be seen nearest to Sir John Monash at the official opening of the Yallourn Hospital on 13 January 1929.

My father John Wolff came to Yallourn in 1932. These are some photos he took in the early days of the power station. I remember going with him to the 'boiler room' and the 'control room' where it was much quieter.

1930 - Epidemic of Scarlet Fever claimed 12 victims in Yallourn in one week

Lloyd Brewer played football for Yallourn Football Club before moving to Richmond FC in 1953. He was a grandson of W H (Dad) Brewer and cousin of Joyce, Ena & Verna Withers from Yallourn.

Educational needs were recognised as early as 12 February, 1922 when the Yallourn State School No 4085 was opened with 13 pupils. The first school building was a weatherboard cottage at No.4 Hillside. By 1923 enrolment had reached 139 pupils, they came from the Camps and outlying areas, so a move to a new and bigger buildings in Outlook Road was needed. This would become the Secondary School when a new Primary school was opened in 1932, bordering Park Crescent, Banksia Crescent and Fairfield Avenue.

Caption: A Herald reader's amusing snapshot forwarded from Yallourn of an elephant belonging to a travelling circus dislodging a motor car which had been accidentally driven into a deep concrete drain around the local cricket oval. The help of the elephant was enlisted when other cars had failed to do the job!

Bill is 2nd from right with the trombone - he was a very talented musician. The fact that he played in the band helped him to get a job with the SEC when so many were unemployed. He said that all the young men used to hang around at the gates every day waiting for someone to come out and give them a job. He was the bread winner and desparate for work...Ann Dinsdale

Presumably the Army & Navy sponsored my mother and I would suggest it was taken in one of the halls.
My mother would have been 15 at the time. To her right and slightly above looks to be her sister VERNA WITHERS nee Puckeridge and immediately to her right is her youngest sister ENA WITHERS nee Butler. The man in uniform on the right was probably the local policeman.
