Gwen Rodda (Ritchie) YHS 1953 sent the photo on the right with this letter:- “I recently bumped in to Mrs Muriel Feehan, who was Miss Williams at Yallourn State School. She taught there for 10 years from 1946 to 1956.

Miss Williams lived in Green Street with her mum and we shared back fences - we lived in Southway. My two brothers and I loved her fruit trees.

Recently, Muriel asked me to visit her (some of her students still visit) which I did and I could have spent the whole day with her catching up and talking about people from Yallourn and our beautiful town.

Henry & June Wilson lived next door and when Muriel moved to Morwell to get married, the Wilsons rigged up a cord with a bell on it, so that if Mrs Williams needed anything, they would oblige.

Muriel’s grandmother (Zenna Rintoull) was the first teacher for Morwell (she had 12 children). The Morwell Historical Society recently did an article on Zenna.

I’m looking forward to our reunion in March 2005 and Muriel hopes to attend. Also expecting to come is Pam Wilson who now lives in Albury. Pam is daughter of Henry Wilson, the Yallourn Butcher.

Thanks for the great time at Woorabinda.”
