I think it is our Grade 4 year at Yallourn Primary, but I am not certain. That would make it 1950. I met up with Pam again several (?) years ago at a "Back to Yallourn" gathering at the Moe racecourse. It was a real "blast from the past" as I had often wondered about her because I had warm memories of her from the primary years. I didn't have lots of friends, but I did remember Pam as being special. We meet for lunch when she is in town (usually for the tennis) - the last couple of times with Jan Nielsen (Graham). I caught up with Mavis (Williams) several years ago when her daughter Roslyn was employed as the music teacher at "my" old school. Imagine my surprise when Mavis turned up to accompany our school choir. I retired from my position as AFI at Old Orchard Primary School, Blackburn North in October 1998, but soon found myself working as a CRF (casual relief teacher). I have several schools that I enjoy working at and where I am getting to know the students. / a/so do some tutoring. I enjoy the teaching without the meetings, responsibilities etc that go with admin. positions. I find being semi-retired is an agreeable lifestyle. I am lucky in that my sisters Barb and Eirene are both quite close - Barb in Blackburn North and Eirene in Nunawading. My brother Ron and his wife Linda are in Traralgon South and Andrew and his wife Dana live in WA. I have lots of warm memories of people from my Hornes Oak/Yallourn days rather than the place itself. I have to smile when I look at the photo of the Yallourn Thirds footy team in one of my old albums. How we High School girls liked those Tech School boys!!"
