Though I go under the handle banistersmind for the purposes of this site, I can confirm that I am in fact Dean Mayes, son of Sue and Steve Mayes whom many will recall operated Steve Mayes Hairdressing at 45 Centreway during much of the 70's.
There are so many things that I recollect about the first four years of my life in Yallourn (from 1973 through to 1977) but they are all a jumble right now and so I'll need to sift through them in due course. Perhaps the one prominent memory I have from those days however was my first experience of seeing Star Wars on the big screen at none other than the Yallourn Cinema. Instead of recounting it here, I wrote an article about it for my website a couple of years ago. At the time, it attracted the attention of a bona fide Star Wars actor in Richard LeParmentier - who played an Imperial Officer in the film who is nearly throttled by Darth Vader. Sadly LeParmentier died just last week (April 16th 2013), but his comment on my post, I shall treasure for all time.
