Hi Mark again - this was Marty's response - "Buying a pie?? not sure about that, matches, cigarette lighters yes and even an occasional lolly or cigar, but pies….. probably did but I have stronger memories of the café in town. 3c worth of chips with free sauce, 12c for a pie and 8c of mixed lollies out of 2 bob for lunch. Substitute watermelon for chips in summer." Thought it might bring back some memories for others there in the 60s...Julie

Hi gang, I was at Kinder in 1960 and the Wakefields had the shop then as Susan only had to walk next door and we had to get on the bus!

Hi Julie, Easticks had the Shop after Pattles. Pattles were there for some time, they also ran the Kiosk at the Swimming Pool from the time it opened until the mid 60's (not sure of the date). They then moved over to a Shop in Morwell in Vincent Road. Easticks took over the heather Grove Shop after Pattles. But only old buggers like me would be able to remember that.

Hi Helen. Wakefields had the Shop in Church Street (next door to the Kindergarten). Prior to Wakefields running the Church Street Shop, it was run by Andy Todd and his Wife. There were 3 corner shops in the Town. Church Street , Heather Grove and Erica Street. Snapes had the Erica Street Shop.

See Kevvy you do know everything!!! I got my shops mixed up - Heather Grove was near Malpass's

Hi Helen - actually I would say Mrs Dick's shop in Erica St was closer to the Malpass's - Heather Grove was near me in Outlook Road, Tyers Ave etc
