Playing up the bush building huts; taking Cindy (dog) to swim in large pond in the bush; catching yabbies in same pond with meat at the bottom of a stocking; raiding the fruit trees in the area - particularly blood plums and usually in the darkness of night; David Brown, next door, shooting out street lights with air rifle; rigging the telephone box so when B Button was pushed, money wouldn't fall and then once a week, collecting it. Walking to swimming pool (took ages) on Thurs nights for swimming training.. Walking to kindergarten way in front or way behind mother. Having milk at play time at Primary School and playing lots of games in the school yard including tunnel ball. Coming home every lunch time from High School to soup and sandwiches, plus a game of cards with mum. Dad feeding kookaburras from his spade in the garden. Jemima the pet duck ending up a gift to the cleaning lady, Mrs Richardson, for her Xmas lunch. Taking the weekly order to the butcher shop (Wilsons) for 2 shillings pocket money. We walked a lot or rode our bikes, rarely did we get a ride from dad.
