We have just watched the latetest up-dated DVD produced by Mary Wilton. For two older YOGA's with grandchildren who have licenses ( never was too sure about the correct spelling when at YHS) to drive, It has brought back many happy memories of my time at YHS and Maxine's time as a Yallourn girl. Mary and ( Mike Hamilton) are to be congratulated on a recording of our time that will be available to the next generation of our great gandchildren. Now one for Kevin Brogan on the DVD who are the old couple who we are sure went to mass and the girl who worked at Mrs Browns pub

Hi Bill...that's great - so glad you enjoyed it (Tears in the Coal Dust). If anyone else is interested, these are available for sale through julie@yallourn.org for $25 each - or via the website www.yallourn.org
Bill- the couple you asked
Bill- the couple you asked about are Joe Farrell and his wife. They lived in Church Street , just around the corner from St Johns. The lady that worked in Ma Browns - I recognise ( but cant "pin" down as yet. The footgae within the Yallourn Pub showed Pat O'Sullivan behind the Bar as well a fleeting glimpse of Aubrey Walsh working as a Barman. I also saw Ian "Pidge" Burrows heading up for a re-fill. Later in the DVD a shot taken ouside of St Thereses showed the Farrells and Ted Austin.
Another Lady ,who is
Another Lady ,who is interviewed on the DVD and is shown to be walking through her garden to the front gate, is Hilda Mc Gregor.
Kevin, Thanks for that, have
Kevin,
Thanks for that, have you ever cosidered putting a down a bit in writing about your time in Yallourn? However a bit concerned that you recognised so many in the Pub. It brought back memories of my time in there- my work colleague David Swainsbury who is married to Carol White - was a barman there - his prices for a beer for me and his other workmates were quite reasonable! Carols dad Fred was probably one of the best SEC gardners.
Hi Bill.... have found out
Hi Bill.... have found out who the "Yallourn Pub" lady was. Her name is Betty Whittaker. Apparently she now lives in Queensland. I wasnt able identify to her, but fortunatley my Mother, together with Mavis McAllister, were able to identify her. My Mother went to Girl Guides with her, so guess she is a similar age. Mum is 89 this year. The price you paid for a beer sounds as if it would have been ideal. I played cricket for Hernes Oak (in the 70's) and it was our venue of choice ( before training, after training , before matches, after matches , Friday nights after work). Would love to be able to wander in for a quite one today, although half of my Cricket mates are no longer with us - so might not be quite the same - but would bring back wonderful memories of a great time.
