This photograph was taken at the 50th Anniversary of the Yallourn Golf Club in 1976 . More than 250  people attended the celebrations which were held in the YGC clubrooms .

Demolition of Briquette Factory from the McGoldrick Collection

Notice the coal dust and Asbestos dust from the demolition. The dust erupted up into the air and traveled towards the crowd, who quickly departed.

Sorry about the blurry photo, the explosion scared the bejesus out of me.

This is the Demolition of the Yallourn Power Station E2 boiler house. The Demolition was kept quiet so that the public would not gather on mass to watch.
I think the authorities were concerned about the large amount of Asbestos that would escape into the air.

1975 - Yallourn Captain Ron Marslen could still manage a smile as he congratulates long-time friend and former team mate, Yallourn North skipper John James, after the North had taken out the CGCA A Grade title.

Going, going, gone..... the Yallourn Briquette Factory chimney.

The 100 metre high chimney of the Yallourn Briquette Factory "lived" for three hours longer than planned. The chimney, once Australia's tallest, was felled at 1:56pm on Saturday, 21 June, 1975.

In the mid 70’s Mrs. Brogan in No. 2 won the prize for the best garden in Yallourn and we, in No 1, won the 3rd prize. So the entry into the street from Coach Road was very pretty.
Mr. Dell the Grade 6 teacher from the Primary school, lived in this street also.
