First child born at Yallourn Hospital was Geraldine (Dawn) Sutton in 1929. Gloria Thorpe was born the same day but later. Mother, Iris Sutton, watched the outdoor opening ceremony from within the Hospital. Matron Madge Allen was Geraldine's Godmother and Doctor Andrew delivered her.
