General Superintendents - Yallourn: 1923 – 1934 – J M Bridge – first General Superintendent while still in charge of coal production. CH Kernot acted in that role between Jan 1925 and Jan 1927 (and again in 1933) in the absence abroad of J M Bridge. 1934 – 1938 – R D Dixon 1938 – 1949 – R A Hunt (later SECV Chairman) 1949 – 1950 – W Morrison 1951 – 1963 – Brig John Field (In 1963, management moved from Yallourn to Morwell and Brig Field became the last General Superintendent and the first Manager of the Latrobe Valley Region)

DEATH OF GEORGE LOOBY 1922-2014

Former Yallourn footballer George Looby passed away on 27th August 2014. George was a skillful defender for Yallourn FC and was listed as one of the Blues’ best players in the club’s historic win over Morwell in the 1948 Grand Final at Trafalgar. George then went on to play in the premiership team at Traralgon and then played with Hazelwood FC.

In the photograph of the 1948 premiership team, George can be seen sitting next to Jimmy Shaw in the front row.
