Our first home - had a wood stove in the kitchen which I never mastered. We won a certificate for Most Improved Garden. Most of the neighbours close by were retired. Greg, our son, loved to spend his days chatting with the old men. They took him to the park and he always could tell us what was happening. It was a lovely place to live with the ovals just across the road and the lovely caring neighbours. Immediate neighbours - Pollock; Maggie O'Connor; Mrs Churchill Nearby neighbours - Webb, Waring, Hill, Nina & Rob Bryce

So glad I had the opportunity to grow up in Yallourn with its wonderful facilities and its unique way of life. Big vegie garden, huge lemon tree and lovely garden. Being able to play safely on the street. The clip-clop of the horses as they made their way back to the stables. The whistle to market the start and finish of the working day. I hated the toilet in the shed at the back of the yard - so dark and scary...Kathleen Immediate Neighbours: Thorpe (No 5); Stevensons, French, Robinson (all on cnr of Westbrook & Broadway West)
