This is a 2 mins 41 secs movie taken during a school excursion to the Yallourn Powerhouse circa 1951. My grandfather Thomas Stanger worked as a Guide for the SEC between 1946 until his retirement in 1963. During that time he conducted many tours of the Powerhouse and Briqutte Works.

Frank Mounter was one of the first Electrical Engineers in Yallourm. He started work at Yallourn in 1922, and he and his wife Olive were one of the first to occupy a house in Maiden Street. They then moved to their permanent home at the bottom of Outlook Rd, behind the Police Station. Family history says he knew Sir John Monash quite well. Being a senior engineer he certainly would have met and worked with Monash, but how well they knew each other is unknown.
